VA Surry Co., VA, Deeds, Wills, Etc. 3 (1684-1687), pp. 87-88 abstracted by Matt HARRIS [brackets, line breaks, & surname capitalization mine] [p. 87] In the Name of God Amen, I Dan:ll REGAN being Sick & weake of body, but haveing my P'fect Senses & Memory doe make this my last Will & Testam.t & whensoever it shall please God to take me out of this Mortall life, I bequeath my Soule to God my Creator trusting in the alone Meritts of Jesus Christ my Saviour & Redemer resting in the sure & Certaine hope of resurrection at the last day, And my body to the Earth from whence it came to be decently interred: And for what Worldly Estate it hath pleased God to possess me withall it is my Will & desire that it be disosed of as followeth: Imp's: I doe give unto my Eldest Sonn Francis Seaventy Acres of land Includeing my plantation after ye decease of his Mother, but further it is my desire y:t [that] if in case that my wife and my said Sonn Cannot agree in liveing togeather, that then my said plantation & ye parcell of Land that I have assigned to it may be Equally divided betweene them & my wife to have her first choice. Secondly I doe give unto my Sonn Dan:ll fifty acres of Land adjoyneing unto the Land of Francis SOWERBY when he comes to the age of Eighteene y's. Thirdly I doe give unto my son Jeremiah fifty acres of Land next adjoyneing to my son Daniell's Land. Fourthly I doe give unto my Sonn John fifty acres of Land next adjoyneing to the land I have Given my Sonn Francis. Fifthly I doe give unto my Sonn Daniell my Mare called by the Name of Roase, and the first filly that the said Mare brings I doe give unto my Sonn Jeremiah, Sixthly I doe give unto my Sonn John a Mare filly that I now have of Six months old, Seventhly It is my desire that my old Mare and all the Increase that shee shall bring shall be Equally divided betweene my wife and my Daughter Elizabeth: when shee comes to the age of Eighteen yeares.
