Their website: http://www.umcentral.org/vision] [Article 4 of 4] [For the Dispatch.] Adieu to Richmond. Fair city, I leave thee; yet fain I would stay Where sunshine and flowers Encompass'd my way; Where hearts warm and tender, Where friends true and tried, In sunshine and shadow, Stood firm by my side. Too brief was my sojourn; Oh, why did I haste To fly e'er by pleasures I scarcely did taste? Yet while my departure Thus sadly I mourn, A tender voice whispers: "Thou soon must return." No wonder it grieves me From thee thus to part; I leave in thy keeping, Fair Richmond, my heart. I must see thee again, Tho' it be but once more; So in place of "Adieu," Let me say "Au revoir." Chula, Va. A.E. FREEMAN. ("The Richmond {VA} Dispatch," (No. 11), Sun., Aug. 28, 1887) Additional information: A sketch of the DOBIE family is included in the following work: Wilson, Leonard.
