THIS INDENTURE made this third day of October in the year of our Lord Christ, one thousand seven hundred and ninety one, and in the sixteenth year of the Commonwealth. Between James Golightly & Susannah Golightly his wife of the County of Sussex of the one part, and George Rives of the same County of the other part. WITNESSETH that the said James Golightly & Susannah his wife for and in consideration of the Sum of three hundred & seventy five pounds current money of Virginia to him in hand paid by the said George Rives the Receipt whereof he the said James Golightly doth hereby acknowledge he the said James Golightly & Susannah his wife hath granted, bargained & sold, aliened & confirmed by these presents doth grant, bargain & sell, alien & confirm unto the said George Rives his Heirs and assigns for ever a certain tract or parcel of land containing three hundred acres more or less situate lying and being in the aforesaid County of Sussex and bounded as followeth Beginning in Jones Hole Swamp at an oak in the main Run of Belschers mill pond, thence along George Rives's line formerly John Mitchells to a corner Hickory, thence along the said line to a corner black jack, thence to a Gum on Betty Rives's line, thence along her line to Lucy Rives's line, thence down the main run of the great Branch to the main run of Jones hole Swamp in Belschers mill pond, thence up the main run to the Beginning and also all Lands, Woods, Waters, profits and appurtenances whatsoever to the said three hundred acres of Land and premises belonging or in any wise appertaining and also the reversion and reversions; remainder and remainders; Rents and Services of all the said Land and premices, and every part thereof, and all the Estate, right, Title, Interest, claim and demand whatsoever of him the said James Golightly & Susannah his wife his Heirs & assigns of in and to the said Land & premises and every part thereof. To have and to hold the said three hundred acres of Land more or less as above mentioned & all & Singular the said premises, and every part and parcel thereof with the appurtenances unto the said George Rives his Heirs and assigns for ever, and I the said James Golightly and Susannah his wife for myself my Heirs, and every persons claiming by from or under me do by these presents Warrant and for ever defend the title of the said three hundred acres of Land more or less to the only proper use and behoof of him the said George Rives his Heirs and assigns for ever. In Witness whereof I the said James Golightly and Susannah his wife hath hereunto set our hands & affixed our Seals the Day and Year before written.
