This Indenture made this twenty second day of March one thousand eight hundred and fifteen between Jesse Lee and Nancy his wife of the one part and Joel Lee of the other part, Witnesseth that the said Jesse Lee and Nancy his wife in consideration of two hundred and forty one dollars & twenty cents, to them in hand paid by the said Joel Lee at or before the ensealing and delivery of these presents,the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, have bargained and sold and by these presents do and each of them doth bargain and sell unto the said Joel Lee his heirs and assigns a certain piece or parcel of land situate lying and being in the County of Sussex on the North side of the little swamp, containing forty acres be the same more or less, and bounded by the lands of Hinchy Rochell, William H. Coman, James Rogers, William Graves and the said swamp. To have and to hold, the said piece or parcel of land unto the said Joel Lee his heirs or assigns with all and singular the appurtenances thereto belonging to him the said Joel Lee his heirs and assigns forever and we the said Jesse Lee & Nancy his wife for ourselves our heirs exor's. and admr's. the said tract of land unto the said Joel Lee his heirs and assigns against the claim of the said Jesse Lee and Nancy his wife their heirs and assigns & against the claim of everry other person or persons whatsoever shall & will warrant and forever defend by these presents. In Witness whereof the said Jesse Lee and Nancy his wife hath hereunto set their hands & affixed their seals the day and date first above written. Signed & Sealed in presence of} Jesse Lee (Seal) Nancy(herXmark)Lee (Seal) Sussex County to wit:We Pleasant Hunnicutt and John Cargill Magistrates of the said County do hereby certify that Jesse Lee and Nancy his wife parties to the within conveyance, have duly acknowledged the same before us on the twenty second day of March eighteen hundred & fifteen, and the said Nancy being privily and apart from her husband, examined, thouching the said conveyance, declared that she freely and voluntarily relinquished her right of dower in the said Land, and that she wished not to retract it, and each of them desired us to certify the said acknowledgement and consent to the clerk of the County Court of Sussex, in order that the said conveyance may be recorded. This Indenture was presented for record, and it appearing that the same was acknowledged by Jesse Lee and Nancy his wife parties thereto, to be their act and deed before Pleasant Hunnicutt and John Cargill two of the Justices for the County the same is recorded in the clerks office of Sussex County Court.
