This file was contributed by: Christie Canfield ==================================================================== This Indenture made this fourth day of the Tenth month in the Year of our Lord One thousand Seven hundred and ninety Six Between James Stanton of Sussex County of the one part and William Wren of Southampton County of the other part Witnesseth that the said James Stanton for and in consideration of the Sum of Twenty nine pounds Ten Shillings to him in hand paid by the said William Wren the receipt whereof the said James Stanton doth hereby Acknowledge he the said James Stanton hath granted bargained and Sold alien enfeoff and by these Presents doth grant bargain and Sell alien enfeoff and Confirm unto the said William Wren his heirs and Assigns forever one Certain tract or parcel of land Containing by estimation One hundred and Six Acres (be the same more or less) Situate lying and being in the County of Sussex on the North Side of Tompsons branch and bounded as follows Beginning at a turkey Oak on Thos Hick's line a Corner thence S. 41o W. 98p a pine thence along Benjamin Evan's line S. 87o W 126p thence N 72o W 28p a White oak thence down the N. ???ig of Joseph Rossers line S. 42o W 36p a corner Gum thence a line of marked Trees N 77o 30 E white oak on Tompsons branch thence up the said branch N8o E. 128p to the Beginning One hundred and Six Acres and also all trees Woods under woods Commons Common of Pastures profits Commodities Advantages Emoluments and hereditaments whatsoever to the said tract or parcel of land above mentioned, belonging or any ways appertaining or in or upon the same growing happening or arising, And also the reversion and reversions remainder and remainders rents and Services of the said and of every part and parcel thereof and also all the estate right title Interest Claim and demand whatsoever of he the said James Stanton of in and to the said premises and every part thereof To have and to hold all and Singular the said premises above mentioned and every part and parcel thereof with the appertenances unto the said William Wren his heirs and assigns to the only proper use and behoof of the said William Wren his Heirs and Assigns forever And the said James Stanton for himself and his heirs the said Tract of land and every part thereof against himself and his heirs and against all and every other person and persons whatsoever to the said William Wren his heirs and assigns shall and will Warrant and forever defend by these presents In Witness whereof the said James Stanton hath hereunto Set his hand and affixed his Seal the day & Year above Written ----------- Signed Sealed and delivered in the presence of us ------------- James Stanton (Seal) At a Court held for Sussex County the 2nd day of February 1797 This Indenture was Acknowledged by James Stanton a party thereto to be his act and Deed and Ordered to be Recorded ----------------------------- Teste Michael Bailey Clk Sussex Co.
