Deed - Anselm Sammons et al to Noah Sledge (Deed Book J, page 207, Sussex Co.VA.) THIS INDENTURE made and entered into this thirty first (sic) day of November Eighteen hundred and three between Anselm Sammons, Nancy his wife and Elizabeth Mason of the one part and Noah Sledge of the other part all of the County of Sussex WITNESSETH that for and in consideration of the sum of twenty pounds money of the United States by the said Noah Sledge to them the said Sammons, wife, and Mason in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged them the said Sammons, wife, Mason to the said Sledge hath bargained sold enfeoff and made over and confirmed to the said Sledge his heirs and assigns forever, one certain Tract or parcel of land lying and being situated in the County aforesaid and bounded as follows beginning at the red oak on the mill pond in Sally Sledges Line thence along her line ninety three poles, to a red oak, thence N 78 degrees W 76 pole to a stake in the old field thence S 17 degrees W 105 pole to the mill pond thence down the mill pond to the begining containing by survey fifty acres be the same more or less together with all appurtenances whatsoever them the said Sammons, wife and Mason doth for themselves their heirs, Exor's. Admr's. forever relinquish all right, title, claim, privilege property, and interest, to of & in the said tract or parcel of land to him the said Noah Sledge his heirs and assigns forever, and them the said Anselm Sammons, Nancy his wife and Elizabeth Mason from themselves their heirs, Exor's. Admr's. against the claim or claims of all and every other person or persons whatsoever, doth forever warrant and defend the lawful right title, and use of the said premises, to the only proper use and behoof of him the said Noah Sledge his heirs and assigns forever, IN WITNESS whereof, and off all the above the said Anselm Sammons, Nancy his wife and Elizabeth Mason have hereunto set their hands and seals the day and year above written.
