Deed - Allen Sammons to James Key (Deed Book M, page 366, Sussex Co.VA.) This Indenture made this 25th day of August one thousand eight Hundred and eighteen Between Allen Sammons and Salley his wife of the County of Sussex of the one part, and James Key of the aforesaid County of the other part Witnesseth that the said Allen Sammons & Salley his wife for and in consideration of the sum of Fourteen Hundred Dollars current money of Virginia to them in hand paid by the said James Key the receipt whereof they do hereby acknowledge hath granted bargained sold aliened released and confirmed and by these presents for themselves and their Heirs do grant bargain and sell alien release and confirm unto the said James Key his heirs and assigns forever one certain tract or parcel of land lying being and situate in the County aforesaid and bounded by the Land of Lazarus Long and James Long containing by estimation Two Hundred acres be the same more or less with all ways Wood Houses out Houses thereto belonging or in anywise appurtaining also the remainder and remainders reversion and reversions to have and to hold the said granted Land and premises herein before mentioned to the said James Key his heirs & assigns the said Tract or parcel of Land & premises unto the said James Key & his heirs against all persons shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents In Witness whereof we the said Allen Sammons and Salley his wife have hereunto set our hands and affixed our seals this day and year first above written. Signed Sealed & Delivered in Presence of} Allen Sammons (Seal) Salley Sammons (Seal) Sussex County towit....We Henry J.Harrison and William E.Massenburg being Justices of the peace in the County aforesaid do hereby Certify that Allen Sammons and Salley Sammons, his wife parties to the within deed for the conveyance of real estate to James Key bearing date on the 25th day of August 1818, have duly acknowledged the same before us and desired us to Certify the said acknowledgements to the Clerk of the County Court of Sussex in order that the said conveyance may be recorded.
