Deed - Commissioners For Hardy Sammons to Wylie Sammons
(Deed Book O, page 2, Sussex Co.VA.)

THIS INDENTURE made and entered into this 3rd day of April in the year
of our Lord one thousand eight hundred & twenty three Between William
Whitehorn Senr., David Grizzard and William Whitehorn Junr., 
Commissioners appointed by the County Court of Sussex to sell the lands
of Hardy Sammons, dec'd. of the one part Wiley Sammons of the other 
part. Witnesseth that the said William Whitehorn Senr. David Grizzard
and William whitehorn Junr. for and in consideration of the sum of 
eight hundred and sixty four dollars and seventy eight cents good and
lawful money of Virginia to them in hand paid the receipt whereof we
doth hereby acknowledge they the said commissioners have granted 
Bargained & sold and by these presents do grant bargain & sell unto the
said Wiley Sammons and to his heirs & assigns forever all that certain
tract or parcel of land situate lying and being in the County of Sussex
containing two hundred & thirteen acres be the same more or less and is
bounded as follows,(Viz) begining at David Grizzards line thence along
said Grizzards line to John Grizzid Senr. line thence along said John
Grizzards line to Collins Scarbrgs line thence along said Scarbrgs line
to Sally Coopers line formerly the land belonging to Tuder land from
thence to the begining. To have and to hold the said tract or parcel of
land and premises with all & singular the appurtenances thereunto
belonging unto the estate of the said Wiley Sammons to him and his 
heirs and assigns to the only proper use & behoof of him the said Wiley
Sammons his heirs & assigns forever and they the said Commissioners the
aforesaid Land and premises unto him the said Wiley Sammons his heirs &
assigns against them the said Commissioners their heirs and against all
and every other person or persons whatsoever shall and will warrant and
forever defend by these presents. In Witness whereof they the said
Commissioners have hereunto set their hands & affixed their seals this
day & date above written.

On the 3rd day of April 1823 This Indenture was acknowledged by William
Whitehorn Senr. David Grizzard and William Whitehorn Jr.(Commissioners)
and parties thereto to be their act and deed and recorded in the clerks
office of Sussex County Court.
