Deed - John Sammons Executor to James Sammons 1767 (Deed Book C, page 258, Sussex Co.VA.) THIS INDENTURE made this twentyeth Day of August in the year of our Lord God one thousand seven hundred & sixty seven Between David Mason Executor of the Last Will & Testament of John Sammons Dece'd. of the County of Sussex of the one part and James Sammons of the County aforesaid of the other part. WITNESSETH that the said David Mason pursuant to the s'd. Last Will and Testament of the s'd. John Sammons Dece'd. and for and in consideration of the sum of fifteen pounds current money of virginia to the said David Mason for the use & benefit of the Estate of the aforesaid John Sammons Dece'd., by the said James Sammons in hand paid the receipt whereof he the s'd. David Mason Doth Hereby acknowledge, he the said David Mason hath & doth grant Bargain & sell alien enfeoff & confirm unto the said James Sammons his heirs and assigns forever all that tract part or parcel of Land Lying in the S'd. County of Sussex & on the South side of the Great Swamp containing by Estimation forty five acres be the same more or less and is bounded as followeth to wit Beginning at a red oak at the head of a branch which Divides the Land now sold from the Residue of the Land belonging to the Estate of the said Decedent thence Down the s'd. Branch to John Morgans Line thence along the s'd. Morgans line to James Sammons line adjoining the same now sold thence along James Sammons line to the red oak at the Head of the Branch Begun at AND ALSO all Houses Buildings Orchards Lands & advantages whatsoever to the s'd. tract or part or parcel of Land belonging or in any wise appertaining and also all the Estate right title interest claim & Demand of them the said David Mason Executor etc. of in and to the same TO HAVE AND TO HOLD the said tract part or parcel of Land and premisses with the appurtenances unto the s'd. James Sammons his heirs & assigns forever and the s'd. David Mason Executor etc. this tract part or parcel of Land & premisses with the appurtenances to the said James Sammons his heirs & assigns against him the said David Mason Exr. etc. and his heirs and against all persons claiming from by or under him shall and will warrant and forever Defend by these presents provided never the less that whereas Phillis Ivey, mother of the s'd. James Sammons hath Dower in the aforesaid tract or parcel of Land and is to Retain it without the ____ hinderance, molestation or Interruption of him the s'd. James Sammons, his Heirs or assigns IN WITNESS whereof the said David Mason Exr. etc. Hath set his hand & affixed his seal the day & year first above written. Sealed and Delivered in Presence of} David Mason (Seal) Received the twentyeth Day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred & sixty seven of James Samons the sum of Fifteen Pounds current money in full for the consideration within mentioned.
