Deed - James Sammons to John Sammons 1754 (Deed Book A, page 30, Sussex Co.VA.) THIS INDENTURE made the ninth Day of September one thousand seven hundred & fifty four BETWEEN James Sammons Senr. of Sussex County of the one part & John Sammons of the said County of the other part WITNESSETH that the sd. James Sammons Senr. for and in consideration of the sum of Twenty pounds current money to him in hand paid by the said John Sammons at & before the Ensealing & Delivery of these presents the Receipt whereof the said James Sammons Senr. doth hereby acknowledge he the said James Sammons Senr. hath Granted, Bargained & Sold Aliened Enfeoffed & confirmed & by these presents doth Grant Bargain & sell alien Enfeoff, & confirm unto the said John Sammons his Heirs & assigns forever a certain Tract or Parcel of Land containing one hundred Acres lying & being in the County aforesaid & Bounded as follows, to wit, BEGINNING at pine on the South side of the Great Swamp just below the mouth of a small Branch then South Seventy Degrees West ninety seven poles to a Hiccory thence South Five Degrees East Fifty one poles to a red oak thence South thirty five degrees East fifty six poles to a black oak thence East South East one Hundred & Thirty Eight poles to a small gum by the side of a small Branch thence down the various courses of the run of the said Branch to the great swamp aforesaid & up the various courses of the run of the great swamp to the first station and also all trees woods underwoods commons common pastures, profits, commodities Advantages Emoluments & Hereditaments whatsoever to the said Lands above mentioned, belonging, or in anywise appurtaining or in or upon the same growing happening, or arising and also the reversion and reversions Remainder & Remainders Rents & Services of the sd. premises & every part thereof and also all the Estate Right Title Interest Claim & Demand whatsoever of him the said James Sammons and of in or to the same premises & every part thereof. TO HAVE AND TO HOLD all and singular the said premises above mentioned & every part and parcel thereof with appurts. unto the sd. Jno.Sammons his heirs & assigns to the only proper use & behoof of him the sd. John Sammons his Heirs & assigns forever and the said James Sammons Senr. for himself & his Heirs the sd. Tract or parcel of Land with appurts. above mentioned and every part thereof against him & his Heirs & against all and every other person & persons whatsoever he the sd. John Sammons his Heirs & assigns shall and will warrant & forever Defend by these presents IN WITNESS whereof the said James Sammons Senr. hath Hereunto put his hand and affixed his Seal the day and year above written. MDCCLIV Peaceable & quiet possession & seisin of the said Lands & other the said premises in this Deed contain'd was Delivered by the within named James Sammons Senr. to the within named John Sammons according to the form and Effect of this Deed.
