Deed - Robert Sammons, et al to James Sammons 1795 (Deed Book H, page 452, Sussex Co.VA.) THIS INDENTURE made this third day of November one thousand seven hundred and ninety five Between John Hicks, Jenny Hicks his wife, Robert Sammons and Susannah Sammons of the one part and James Sammons of the other part Witnesseth that the said John Hicks, Robert Sammons and Susannah Sammons for and in consideration of the sum of twenty seven pounds fifteen shillings Virginia money to them in hand paid by the said James Sammons at and before the ensealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof the said John Hicks Robert Sammons and Susannah Sammons doth hereby acknowledge to have bargained and sold aliened and confirmed & by these presents doth grant bargain and sell, alien, enfeoff & confirm unto the said James Sammons and his Heirs and assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of Land containing thirty seven acres to be the same more or less lying & being in the County of Sussex Virginia Begining at a pine on the South side of the great Swamp just below the mouth of a small Branch thence So. 70 degrees West 97 poles to a Hickory thence So. 5 degrees East to a little branch thence down the said branch to the great Swamp thence up the said Swamp to the first station (the said Land lies adjoining the land of Thomas Parham and the said James Sammons) and also all Trees Woods underwoods profit commodities advantages Emoluments & Hereditaments whatsoever to the said Land above mentioned belonging or in anywise appurtaining and also the Reversion, and Reversions, Remainder and Remainders, Rents & services of the said Premises and every Part thereof and also all the estate Right, Title, claim, and demand of them the said John Hicks in right of his wife, Robert Sammons & Susannah Sammons of in and to the same premises and every Part thereof TO HAVE AND TO HOLD all and Singular the aforesaid premises and every Part and Parcel Thereof with the appurtenances unto the said James Sammons his Heirs and assigns,to the only Proper use & behoof of him the said James Sammons his Heirs and assigns forever and the said John Hicks, Robert Sammons, & Susannah Sammons, for themselves & their Heirs the said Tract or Parcel of Land with the appurtenances above mentioned and every part thereof against them and their Heirs and against all and every other person & persons, with warrant and forever defend by these presents IN WITNESS whereof the said John Hicks, Jenny Hicks, Robert Sammons, & Susannah Sammons hath hereunto put their Hands & affixed their Seals the day and year first above written.
