Deed - Thomas Sammons to Hardy Sammons (Deed Book F, page 310, Sussex Co.VA.) This Indenture made this Seventeenth day of Sept. in the year of our Lord one Thousand seven hundred & Eighty four Between Thomas Sammons of the County of Sussex of the one part & Hardy Sammons of the said County of the other part Witnesseth that the said Thomas Sammons for & in consideration of the natural Love & affection which he hath & doth bear unto his Son the said Hardy Sammons Hath given granted aliened Enfeoffed & confirmed and by these presents doth grant alien Enfeoff & confirm unto him the said Hardy Sammons his heirs & assigns a certain Tract or Parcel of Land lying & being in the aforesaid County of Sussex containing by estimation Sixty six acres be the same more or less it being the one half of one Hundred & Thirty Two acres granted the said Thomas Sammons by James Sammons Father to the said Thomas by Deed which s'd. Deed remains now on record in the aforesaid County of Sussex reference thereto being had may more fully appear & is bounded as followeth, Beginning at a black Gum on the south side of the Plowman Swamp adjoining Robert Linn thence down the various courses of the said swamp to a black Gum adjoining John Avents thence a South course to a white oak, a new made line, thence West to a Turky Oak thence a North West course to a Turky Oak adjoining Robert Linn & from thence a North East course to the black Gum at the beginning & all & singular the above mentioned Tract of Land with its appurtenances unto the said Hardy Sammons & his Heirs, & also all Houses, ways, waters, water courses, profits, commodities hereditaments & appurtenances whatsoever to the said Tract or parcel of Land & Premises belonging or anywise appurtaining & also the Reversion & Reversions Remainder & Remainders Rents Issues & Profits thereof also all the Estate right Title interest property claim & demand whatsoever of him the s'd. Thos.Sammons of in & to the same To have & to hold the said Tract or Parcel of Land & Premises with the appurtenances thereunto belonging unto him the said Hardy Sammons his heirs & assigns to the only proper use & behoof of him the said Hardy Sammons his Heirs & assigns forever & the said Thos. Sammons for himself & his Heirs & assigns the said Tract or Parcel of Land & premises with all & singular the appurtenances thereunto belonging to the said Hardy Sammons his Heirs & assigns shall & will warrant & forever defend by these presents In Witness whereof the said Thomas Sammons hath hereunto set his hand & affixed his Seal the day & year first above written.- Signed & Seal'd in Presence of} Thomas(hisxmark)Sammons (Seal) At a Court Held for Sussex County the 16th day of September 1764.
