Deed - Willie Sammons to Charles B.Champion (Deed Book T, page 382, Sussex Co.VA.) THIS INDENTURE made this 25th day of May 1800 forty four between Willie Sammons and Margaret his wife of the County of Brunswick of the one Part and Charles B.Champion of the County of Sussex of the other part Witnesseth that the said Willie Sammons & Margaret his wife in consideration of the sum of one hundred & twenty five dollars and forty one and two thirds cents to them in hand paid or secured to be paid by the said Chas.B.Champion at or before the ensealing & delivery of these presents. The rect. whereof is hereby acknowledged have bargained & sold & by these presents do bargain & sell unto the said C.B.Champion his heirs & assigns all the right title and interest which they or either of them have to or in a certain tract or parcel of land lying in the County of Sussex Va. containing two hundred & fifty acres more or less & bounded by the lands of Robert Key, Griefswood, Jas.Maze & perhaps others. it being the land formerly owned by Phillip Long dec'd. together with all & singular the appurtenances thereto belonging. To have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land with all & singular the premises unto the said Chas.B.Champion his heirs & assigns forever and the said Willie Sammons & Margaret his wife for themselves & their heirs the said tract or parcel of land with all & singular the premises unto the sd. C.B.Champion his heirs & assigns free from the claim or claims of them the sd. Willie Sammons & Margaret his wife or either of them their or either of their heirs & of all every person whatever, shall, will & do warrant & forever defend by these presents In Witness whereof the said Willie Sammons & Margaret his wife hereunto set their hands & seals the day & year above Written. Willie(hisxmark)Sammons (seal) Margaret(herxmark)Sammons (Seal) Brunswick County to wit We James B.Mallory & John P.Atkinson Justices of the Peace in the County aforesaid in the State of Virginia, do hereby certify that Margaret Sammons, wife of Willie Sammons parties to a certain deed bearing date 25th May 1844 & hereto annexed personally appeared before us in our County aforesaid & being examined by us privily & apart from her husband & having the deed fully explained to her she the said Margaret Sammons acknowledged the same to be her act & deed & declared that she had willingly signed, sealed & delivered the same & that she wished not to retract it.
