Deed - Wiley Sammons to James Mason 1823 (Deed Book O, page 30, Sussex Co.VA.) THIS INDENTURE made and entered into this third day of March Eighteen hundred & twenty three between Wiley Sammons & Margaret his wife of the County of Sussex of the one part and James Mason of the same County of the other part Witnesseth that for & in consideration of the sum of three hundred & fifty three dollars & twenty two cents in hand paid by the sd. James Mason the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged we the said Wiley Sammons and Margaret his wife hath granted bargained & sold and do by these presents bargain & sell unto the said James Mason his heirs and assigns forever all the rite title Interest claim or demand in a tract or parcel of land lying and being in the aforesaid County of Sussex containing Eighty seven acres be the same more or less by late survey and lying on the South side of the powman swamp beginning at a black gum in the said swam a corner a new made line runing South to David Grizzard line thence along Grizzard line to Tuders line thence along Tuders the sade Mason line thence along Mason line to the swamp thence up the swamp to the begining to have and to hold the sd. Tract or parcel of land unto him the sd. James Mason his heirs and assigns to the only proper use and behoof of him the sd. James Mason and his heirs and assigns forever and the sd. Wiley Sammons & Margaret his wife for themselves there heirs do covenant grant and agree to and with the said James Mason and his heirs Etc. to warrant and forever defend the above granted premises before mentioned with its appertanences unto the said James Mason his heirs & and against the claims or claims of all and every person or persons whatever. In Witness whereof the said Wiley Sammons & Margaret his wife have hereto set there hand and affixed there seals the day and date above written. (Seal) On the 17th day of July 1823 This Indenture was presented for record and it appearing by the annexed certificates of William Parham, m and William Parham, s two of the Magistrates for the County that the same had been duly acknowledged before them by Willie Sammons and Margaret his wife parties thereto to be their act and deed the said Indenture together with the said certificates is recorded in the Clerks office of Sussex County Court.
