Deed - Willie Sammons to Pinkey Linn 1827
(Deed Book P, page 187, Sussex Co.VA.)

THIS INDENTURE made this 27th day of Decr. one thousand Eight hundred 
and twenty seven, Between Willie Sammons and Peggy his wife of the 
County of Sussex and State of Virginia of the one part and Pinkey Linn
of the aforesaid County and State of the other part. Witnesseth that 
the said Willie Sammons and Peggy his wife for and in consideration of
the sum of Seventy five dollars, current money of Virginia to them in
hand paid by the said Pinkey Linn the receipt whereof we the said 
Willie Sammons and Peggy his wife doth hereby confess and acknowledge,
hath bargained sold and aliened made over and confirmed and doth by 
these presents, bargain and sell, make over and confirm unto the said
Pinkey Linn his heirs and assigns forever, one certain tract or parcel
of land, containing by late survey fifteen acres be the same more or
less, situate lying and being in the aforesaid County of Sussex and
bounded by the lands of Collin Scarbrough, David Grizzard and the said 
Willie Sammons. To Have And To Hold, the aforesaid tract or parcel of
land, with all and singular, the rights, priviledges, improvements and
appurtenances of all and every kind whatsoever, unto the said Pinkey
Linn, his heirs and assigns forever. And we the said Willie Sammons and
Peggy his wife for ourselves and our heirs doth hereby covenant to and
with the said Pinkey Linn his heirs and assigns that the title or 
demand of all and every person or persons will warrant and forever by
these presents defend and maintain unto the said Pinkey Linn his heirs
and assigns forever. In Witness whereof we have hereunto set our hands
and affixed our seals the day and year herein first above written.

Sussex County to wit
We Fielding Rose and Robert Key, Justices of the peace in the County 
aforesaid in the State of Virginia do hereby certify that Willie 
Sammons a party to a certain deed bearing date on the 27th day of Decr. 
and hereto annexed personally appeared before us in our County 
aforesaid and acknowledged the same to be his act and deed and desired
us to certify the said acknowledgement to the Clerk of the County Court
of Sussex in order that the said deed may be recorded. Given under our
hands and seals this 27th day of December 1827.

Sussex County to wit
We Fielding Rose and Robert Key, Justices of the peace in the County
aforesaid in the State of Virginia do hereby certify that Peggy Sammons
the wife of Willie Sammons parties to a certain deed bearing date on 
27th day of December and hereunto annexed, personally appeared before
us in our County aforesaid and being examined by us privily and apart
from her husband, and having the deed aforesaid fully explained to her
she the said Peggy Sammons acknowledged the same to be her act and deed
and declared that she had willingly signed, sealed and delivered the 
same and that she wished not to retract it. Given under our hands and 
seals this 27th day of December 1827.

On the 3rd day of January 1828 This Indenture was presented for record
and it appearing from the annexed certificates of Fielding Rose and 
Robert Key two of the Magistrates of this County that the same had been
duly acknowledged before them by Willie Sammons and Peggy his wife
parties thereto to be their act and deed. The said Indenture together
with the said certificates is recorded in the Clerks office of Sussex
County Court.
