Between David Wren and Mary his wife of the County of Davidson & State of Tennessee – Thomas Wren & Rebekah J. Wren his wife Samuel Champion & Elizabeth his wife, Barham Wren & Sally his wife Heirs and Legatees of Benjamin Wren deceas'd of the County of Southampton on the one part and Nancy Clanton another of the Heirs in Said Estate of the other part. Witnesseth that the Said David Wren & Mary his wife Thomas Wren & Rebekah J. his wife Samuel Champion & Elizabeth his wife Barham Wren & Sally his wife Heirs and Legatees as aforesaid for & in Consideration of the Sum of One dollar to them in hand paid the receipt of which they do hereby Acknowledge but more especially in Consideration of her the Said Nancy Clanton being an heir in the estate of Said Benjamin Wren decd have given granted and delivered to her the Said Nancy Clanton one Certain tract or Parcel of Land Situate lying and being in the County of Sussex & State of Virginia & bounded as follows. Beginning at the main run of the Mill Pond at a new made dividing line for herself & Barham Wren then up the main run of the Pond to Booths line then along Booths line to high Water mark of Mill Pond then along Said line N 39 West 14 Pole N 44 W 78 to a Black gum in a branch then up main run of Said Branch to a white wher this line leaves the branch, then along Solesbery's Chapt. line N 23 E 92 N 19 E 43 N 9 E 26 N 6 E 40 to a Spanish Oak a Corner for Solesberry – Blow & Said Nancy Clanton then S 65 E 12 S 74 E37 to a white Oak Corner for G. Blow & Said Nancy Clanton then down a branch its various Courses to a Willow Oak Corner a new made Corner for Barham Wren – then along a new dividing line S 37 West to the begng Containing three hundred & Eighty Seven Acres more or less being that part of the land formerly belonging to Benjamin Wren deceas'd which has been lately assigned by Commissioners mutually Chosen by all the Parties to divide Said land Among the Legatees) to the Said Nancy Clanton as her full portion of Land of Said deceas'd to her the Said Nancy Clanton one of the Heirs as aforesaid her Heirs, Executors Administrators and assigns forever – and they the Said David Wren & Mary his wife Thomas Wren & Rebekah J. his wife Samuel Champion & Elizabeth his wife and Barham Wren & Sally his wife Heirs as aforesaid for themselves their heirs Executors Administrators and assigns doth Covenant to and with the Said Nancy Clanton one other Legatee in Said Estate her Heirs Executors Administrators and assigns that the Said Land is free & Clear of all in Cumbrances whatsoever and that this deed Shall be to her the Said Nancy Clanton a Sufficient Warrantee for her Said proportionate Part of the Said Land hereby Warranting and defending the legal title thereof not only against themselves but against the just Claim of any Person whatsoever – In Witness whereof we have hereunto Set our hands & Seals this day & date above Written. ----- Sign'd Seal'd acknowledged David Wrenn (Seal) & delivered in Presence of Mary Wrenn (Seal) Edwin Cooper Thomas Wrenn (Seal) his Rebekah J. Harrison and George Blow Magistrates of the aforesaid County do hereby Certify that Thomas Wrenn and Rebekah J. his wife Samuel Champion and Elizabeth his wife and Barham Wrenn and Sally his wife Parties to the within Conveyance have duly Acknowledged the Same before us on this eleventh day of November in the year 1818 and desired us to Certify the Said Acknowledgment to the Clerk of the aforesaid County of Sussex in Order that the Said Conveyance may be Recorded we also Certify that Rebekah J. the wife of Thomas Wren, and Elizabeth the wife of Samuel Champion and Sally the wife of Barham Wrenn, being examined by us prively and apart from their Said Husbands and having the nature of the within Conveyance fully explained to them, they the Said Rebekah J. wife of Thomas Wrenn, Elizabeth the wife of Samuel Champion and Sally the wife of Barham Wrenn acknowledge it to be their act and deed and declared that they had Voluntarily Signed Sealed and delivered the Same and Consent to its being recorded that not wishing to retract it – Given under our hands & Seals. This Indenture was Proved to be the act and deed of David Wrenn a Party thereto by the Oath of George Booth one of the Subscribing Witnesses and Continued. and on the 4th day of March 1819 was further Proved as to said David Wren by the Oath of Benjamin Cooper another witness thereto and Continued – and on the 12th day of June 1819 was further Proved as to the Said David Wren by the Oath of Edwin Cooper the other Subscribing Witness, and it appearing by the annexed Certificate of George Blow and Henry J. Harrison two of the justices for the County of Sussex that the Same had been duly acknowledged before them by Thomas Wrenn and Rebekah J. his wife Samuel champion and Elizabeth his wife, Barham Wrenn and Sally his wife other Parties thereto to be their Act and deed the Same is there upon recorded in the Clerks office of Sussex County Court.— (Exd) Teste J.C.
