The branch line is a part of the Atlantic and Danville Railway Company and extends 50.42 miles between these two points. It is understood that the application that was filed on September 9th was not opposed. This line serves the towns of Waverly, Grizzard, Mason, Gray, Yale, Lumberton, Homeville, Savedge, Spring Grove, Claremont and Emporia. The train service was recently cut to every other day instead of the daily schedule that was maintained for a number of years. In making the application for abandonment of the Claremont branch the Southern Railway Company stated that the territory traversed has not been developed industrially and that agricultural development is small, which accounts for the line being operated unprofitably. When making the application the Southern Railway Company stated that the "Narrow-gauge road would be abandoned only as to operation". It is understood that the tracks will remain as they are at present. A large part of this line is now used by the Gray Lumber Company, of Waverly, to transport logs to the mills here.
