JEAN BRITT ATKINS 

  WAKEFIELD - Jean Britt Atkins, 79, of Wakefield went to be with the Lord on 
Wednesday, October 14, 2015.  Jean was born May 4, 1936 in Nansemond County 
(Suffolk) Virginia and was a member of Wakefield Baptist Church.  She was 
preceded in death by her parents, Charles Albert Britt and Catherine Raby 
Britt; her husband of 61 years, Robert Lee "Bobby Lee" Atkins, Sr. and her 
brothers, Albert and John R. Britt. 

  Jean is survived by five children, Robert Lee Atkins, Jr., Ronald Albert 
Atkins, Ricky Allen Atkins (Janice), Donald Gene Atkins (Sharon), and Lori 
Ann Atkins (Dan). She was blessed with eight grandchildren, Jarrod Atkins 
(Karen), Trevor Atkins (Jackie), Brandon Atkins (Meg), Carrie Atkins, Payton 
Atkins, Jessica Atkins, Forrest Atkins and Catherine Atkins; and three great-
grandchildren.  Robert is also survived by two brothers and three sisters, 
Jack Atkins, Jr., John Atkins, Ethel Owen, Alice Faye Lowe, and Rebecca 
Maifeld; as well numerous other family members.

  The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, October 16, 2015 at 
Wakefield Baptist Church.  Burial will follow at Wakefield Cemetery.  The 
family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.  In 
lieu flowers, donations may be made to Wakefield Baptist Church, P.O. Box 567, 
Wakefield, VA 23888, to Waverly Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 583, Waverly, VA 23890 
or to Wakefield Volunteer Fire Department, 155 Fleetwood Ave., Wakefield, VA 
23888.  The family is being served by R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home, Wakefield 
Chapel.
