KATE WELLS ATKINS 

  Mrs. Kate Wells Atkins, 87, of Waverly died Friday.

  She was a native of Isle of Wight County and a member of Mill Swamp Baptist 
Church.

  Surviving are her husband, Charles D. Atkins; one daughter, Mrs. Elbert 
Cornett of Waverly; five sons, Edward M. Atkins of Waverly, George W. Atkins 
of Waverly, Walter L. Atkins of Petersburg, Randolph G. Atkins of Petersburg, 
and Howard L. Atkins of New Jersey; two brothers, John Wells of Ivor and 
Bennie Wells of Ivor; one sister, Mrs. William Irving of Philadelphia, Pa.; 
seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

  Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. in the Purviance Funeral 
Chapel in Wakefield.  Burial will be in Spring Hill Church Cemetery.
