CORNELIA BRIGGS ALLEN

  WAKEFIELD - Mrs. Cornelia Briggs Allen, 97, Wakefield’s oldest resident, 
died Saturday night in a Richmond nursing home after a long illness.

  A native of Surry County, she was a daughter of William E. and Mrs. Martha 
Jones Briggs and a member of Wakefield Methodist Church.

  She was the widow of William W. Allen and had lived in Wakefield 79 years.

  She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

  A funeral service will be held today at 4 p.m. in Purviance Funeral Chapel 
by the Rev. Edward P. Owen.  Burial will be in Wakefield Cemetery.
