He was also a resident of Waverly. He was born in Surry County on June 17, 1920 of the late John William Bage and Adelaide Seawall Bage. Mr. Bage was a veteran of WWII, serving in Scotland, France and Belgium. During the war he was honored in Scotland with a stained-glass window for representing the American soldier. After graduating from the University of Richmond in 1954, he worked as a schoolteacher in Paige County. He spent the rest of his life working in the advertising business. He was a member of the Christian Church of Waverly, taught Sunday school and read the entire Bible 46 times during his life. He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Garland Gray of Waverly. Graveside services were held on Aug. 24 at 2 p.m. in the Waverly Cemetery, Waverly. The family desires that memorials be sent to the Waverly Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 318, Waverly, Va. 23890. The Purviance Funeral Home served Mr. Bage’s family in Wakefield.
