Mr. Beasley served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II where he was stationed at Pearl Harbor when it was attacked on December 7, 1941. He was a member of Wakefield United Methodist Church, Wakefield Masonic Lodge #198, Wakefield Ruritan Club, the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association and had served on Wakefield Town Council from 1992- 1994. Mr. Beasley was retired civil service from Fort Lee and had worked part time for many years for Purviance Funeral Home. He was predeceased by his parents, William A. and Susie Ann Beasley; wife, Elizabeth Luter Beasley; daughter, Mary Beasley Williams; daughter-in-law, Elsie Beasley; grandson, James Irvin Beasley and siblings, Cornelia B. Hollis, Emma B. Cravens, Jesse L. Beasley and Carl. M. Beasley. Left to cherish his memory is his son, Lonnie F. Beasley; grandchildren, Teresa Fletcher and husband, Perry, Nancy Bealsey and James McRady and wife, Ginger; great-grandchildren, Brroke Henderson and husband, Jeff, Meaghann Fletcher, Mary Lindsay Fletcher, Caleb McRady and wife, Rachel, Ashley Goode and Amber Farjan; great-great-grandchildren, Faith Elizabeth Henderson, Adrianna Farjan, Gabriel Farjan and Christian Farjan; brother, Emmett S. Beasley and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family will received friends Sunday, April 27, 2014 at R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home Wakefield Chapel, 11414 General Mahone Hwy, Wakefield, VA 23888 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 28, 2014 at the funeral home with Rev. Ray Rowland officiating. Burial with Military Honors and Masonic Rites will follow at Wakefield Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in Beasley’s memory to Wakefield Volunteer Fire department, 155 Fleetwood Ave. Wakefield, VA 23888 or Waverly Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. 583 Waverly, VA 23890.
