She was 20 years and six months of age. Besides her father and mother, she leaves five sisters and one brother. Ada was loved by all, and while she has gone from the series of conflicts, the sorrows and pleasures of life, she will continue to live in the hearts of those who knew her best. She had a promising future, having graduated at Wakefield High School a year ago with high honors, her ambition was for a useful life. She was taken sick at Chase City, Va., while attending the Norman Institute and came home. Soon typhoid fever had a strong hold upon her which she was not physically able to with stand, and she passed away after ten days of sickness. She was a kind, loving daughter and her devotion to the family circle had no limit. Her future was full of promise and dare not ask why she was taken in the budding of her useful life, unless as the flowers are picked before the frost finds them that we may not witness their decay. Her life was one marked with deeds of kindness and cheer. Flowers not thorns, sunshine not shadow did she cast. A vacant place in the Sunday school is made, but for the Sabbaths on earth she is now enjoying the never ending Sabbath of Heaven. The last services were held at her home Sunday afternoon, Rev. C.H. Green officiating. Songs were touchingly rendered by friends. The floral offerings were beautiful, especially those from her Sunday school class and the Church. The remains were peacefully laid to rest near the home where she had lived all her life. The honorary pallbearers were, Misses Ray Brittle, Mary Traylor, Virginia Barrett and Grace Faison, being members of the same graduating class. The active pallbearers were Messrs F.W. Gay, F.M. Ellis, W.B. White, C.H. Traylor, J.W. Presson and W.H. Savedge. She fought the fight, she kept the faith; "Her fame shines bright and clear, And her memory lives in all our hearts, Which will hold it ever dear."
