All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ Mrs. Susie Ballas Buried Saturday Final rites for Mrs. Susie Daniel Ballas, 54, of Richmond, formerly of Waverly, who died suddenly Wednesday, January 18, at the Medical College of Virginia Hospital in Richmond, were held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the Smith Funeral Home in Gibsonville. Burial was in the Friedens Church cemetery. Mrs. Ballas, the wife of the late George Ballas, was a native of Halifax County, and formerly lived in Gibsonville for 10 years with a sister, Mrs. J.D. Patton. She was purchasing agent for Miller-Rhoads in Richmond. Survivors include four sisters and four brothers. One of the brothers is William Daniel of Waverly. The body remained at Smith Funeral Home until the funeral hour. Susie H. DANIEL, & George, son of Mike & Annie BALLAS, m. 24 Dec 1913, in Weldon, Halifax Co., NC, George is buried in Bethlehem Congregational Church Cemetery, Disputanta, Prince George Co. Find a Grave Memorial #32949738 gives b. Prince George Co. His obit apperared in the "Altoona (PA) Times," Mon., Jan. 6, 1919, p. 7. D.Cert. 74 (Blair Co. #13) gives b. 14 Dec 1889 PA, d. 4 Jan 1919, Altoona, PA; son of Michael & Anna (VALISKA) BALLAS, both b. Austria. George also had a sister named Susie (BALLAS; Mrs. Michael) VALISKA (1874 - 1949), buried in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg.
