BAIN, WEALTHY CITIZEN OF IVOR, DEAD Thomas L. Bain of Ivor, well-known citizen of that town and prominent in financial circles, died in Lakeview Hospital, Suffolk, Monday, March 9, in his 83rd year. Mr. Bain, who was a son of the late Lemuel Frank and Mrs. Sarah E. Bain of Sussex County, had made his home in Ivor for more than half a century where he conducted a large mercantile business and was reputed to be one of the country’s wealthiest men. He was a consistent communicant of the Ivor M.E. Church and the oldest member of that congregation; was generous in his contributions to his church and to several other eleemosynary institutions, and was unusually charitable in his deeds and motives to the poor of his home community. He is survived by a brother, Frank B. Bain, a sister, Miss Sallie Bain, both of Wakefield; a niece, Mrs. Elliott Richardson of Capron; four nephews, Guy Bain of Norfolk, Col. Robert F. Bain of Wakefield, Harry L. Bain of Capron and Franklin Bain of Albany, Georgia. Funeral services were held from the home of his brother, Frank B. Bain, in Wakefield Tuesday at 2:30 p.m., conducted by his Pastor, Rev. L.F. Callaham, assisted by Rev. A.K. Lambdin of Chuckatuck and Rev. Clifford Ramsey of Capron. The hymns "My Latest Sun Is Sinking Fast" and "Abide with Me" were sung at the house by a selected choir and at the grave "After" and "Safe In The Arms of Jesus" were used. Burial was in the Wakefield cemetery, the casket being covered with a pall of ascension lilies, and there were many other floral tributes. The active pallbearers were: W.C. Rawls, L.T. Saunders, H.S. Boone, D.H. Pulley, E.B. Ashby, W.H. Savedge, H.S. Land, E. Whitfield, J.S. White and Dr. T.M. Raines. The honorary pallbearers were chosen from his many friends.
