Banty Died Monday Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on June 18 at the J.T. Morriss and Son Funeral Home for John Henry Banty, 34, who died Sunday in Petersburg. Burial was in the Waverly Cemetery. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Vivian Byrd Banty, and two children, Joyce Faye and Steven Wayne Banty, of Stony Creek; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William H. Banty, Sr., of Disputanta; four sisters, Mrs. Georgia May Cabell, of Akron, Ohio, Mrs. Virginia Grant Price of Petersburg, Mrs. Elizabeth Ann Lemmocks, of Colonial Heights, and Miss Della Marie Banty, of Disputanta, and three brothers, William Benjamin and James Lewis Banty, of Stony Creek, and William Henry Banty, Jr., of Carson. John Henry BANTY, of near Stony Creek, auto body man, Army veteran of WW-II, b. 7 Oct 1921, Southampton Co., d. 17 Jun 1956, Petersburg, interred in Waverly Cemetery*, 18 Jun 1956, "Sussex-Surry Dispatch" (Wakefield, VA), Vol. 79, No. 25, Thurs., June 21, 1956, p. 1 *Additional information: A photo of his gravestone - added by dixielad - is posted with Find a Grave Memorial #122344452. D.Cert. 13802 (Petersburg #273) He m. Vivian Byrd JOLLY, 19 Dec 1946 in Sussex Co. Vivian 2m. John's brother James Louis BANTY (1930 - 2016), 3 Jun 1958 in Weldon, Halifax Co., NC. His parents, William Henry Sr. & Ada Mae (REVELLE) BANTY, are buried in Beechwood Cemetery, Boykins - Annex 2, Plot 170.
