She now joins her oldest daughter, Catherine "Kay" Briggs Magee. Born on August 22, 1919, she was the daughter of the late D’Earcy Paul Davis and Laura Mae Joyner Davis, co-founders of the Virginia Diner in Wakefield, Va. Kitty was the original owner of the Crossroads Antiques Shop in Homeville, Va., and was a member of the Wakefield United Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Barry "Doug" Douglas Briggs, Sr., of Pittsboro, N.C., where the couple had retired after living many years in Wakefield, Va.; and her children, Barry Douglas Briggs, Jr. and his wife, Jo Jackson Briggs, of Pittsboro, N.C., Ann Briggs Lipscomb and her husband, David, of Grayson, GA., Don Allan Briggs and his wife, Ronetta, of Richardson, Texas, and Ellen Briggs Burton and her husband, Rodney, of Chester, Va. Her grandchildren include D. Laine Magee, D. Michael Magee, Molly M. Dowless, Casey A. Lipcomb, Sarah D. Lipscomb, John B. Briggs, Catherine "Catie" Briggs, Zachary K. Briggs and Benjamin D. Briggs. She is also survived by seven great- grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 16, at Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield, by Dr. James Becker of Wakefield United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Wakefield Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral Home.
