Barrett, 80, a lifelong resident and farmer of Southampton County, died at his home near Wakefield on Thursday, June 2. The oldest member of Barrett's Christian Church, he is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lillie Rawlings Barrett; five sons, D.E. Barrett and M.B. Barrett of Alexander, J.S. Barrett, USN, P.B. Barrett of Wakefield, and Philip H. Barrett, Jr., of Winston-Salem, N.C.; six daughters, Miss Catherine Barrett and Mrs. T.S. Jackson of Alexandria, Mrs. J.B. Collier of California, Mr. and Mrs. W.R. Hamlin, Mrs. Rawlings Owen of Jarratt, and Mrs. J. Kemper West of Smithfield; 17 grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. C.L. Barrett of Sedley and Mrs. Philip A. Hines of Ivor. Funeral services for Mr. Barrett were conducted at the Purviance Funeral Chapel in Wakefield on Sunday afternoon at 3 o’clock, followed by burial in Wakefield Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Edwin Barrett, Hartwell Barrett, W.F. Barrett, Reginal Booth, Burt Collier, Jr., Beryl Hargrave, Phil Hines, V.W. Hines and Wyatt Slade. Philip* H.
