She was the daughter of William Thomas and Alice Coker Brittle and a native of Southampton county. She was a member of the High Street Methodist Church and had been a seamstress and sales lady most of her life. She had been employed, before her retirement, at Tobiases, LaVogue, Adrians and the Globe in Petersburg. She is survived by a niece, Mrs. Bobby A. Phillips of Mannboro and a nephew, John J. Brittle of Miami, Florida. Funeral services were held Thursday, September 21, at Purviance Funeral Chapel by Rev. Virgil Davis and Rev. Amos Laine. Burial was in the Wakefield Cemetery. Pallbearers were Marvin Morris, John Unruh, Norman Britt, Frank Dyer, Otis Niermeyer, Leon Boissiau, Plato Smith and J.P. Derby.
