HERBERT ALEXANDER BRITTLE 

HERBERT BRITTLE SUCCUMBS AT 56 

  SMITHFIELD - Herbert Alexander Brittle, 56, died Tuesday night in Obici 
Memorial Hospital, Suffolk, after a long illness.

  A native of Surry County, he was a retired employee of the City of Hopewell. 
He was a son of the late James Edward and Mrs. Florence Price Brittle and a 
member of Bacon’s Castle Baptist Church.

  Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ethel V. Brittle; one daughter, Mrs. Joseph 
P. Mann of Chesterfield; two sons, Robert G. Brittle and Thomas N. Brittle, 
both of Surry; one sister, Mrs. Felix W. Gay of Wakefield; one brother, Arthur 
Guy Brittle of Prince George County, and two grandchildren.

  Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at the Bullock Funeral 
Home by the Rev. James B. Crocker, pastor of Wakefield Baptist Church, and the 
Rev. Horace B. Jones.

  Burial will be in Wakefield Cemetery.
