He was born on July 20, 1920 in Southampton County, the son of Claude Edgar and Minnie Freeman Brittle, and the brother of the late Edgar L. Brittle. Wallace Brittle was a member of the Wakefield Congregational Christian Church and he was a retired farmer and rural mail carrier. He is survived by his wife of 56 years. Frances Branch Brittle; a daughter, Becky B. Ringler and her husband Terry N. Ringler of Smithfield; a son Wayne "Smokey" Brittle and his wife Sherri R. Brittle of Wakefield; a sister, Julia Agnes Bowden of Richmond; a brother Sidney A. Brittle, Sr., of Sedley; and three grandchildren, Wallace Wayne Brittle, Jr. and his wife Leslie Brittle, Sarah Lynn Ringler and Christopher B. Ringler. A service of Remebrance was held on Saturday, April 8, at 11 a.m. in Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield. The family received friends at the residence. The family suggest that memorial donations be made to the Wakefield Vol. Fire Department or to the Waverly or Ivor Rescue Squad.
