H.E. Crutchfield and the Rev. L.P. Bland. Burial was in Wakefield Cemetery. Pallbearers were W.C. Seeley, Gene Singleton, Earl Holt, John Harris, Peter Guerrant, Willard Goodrich and Dennis Cox. Brittle, 50, died Wednesday in a Petersburg hospital after a long illness. A native of Southampton County, he was the husband of Mrs. Mildred Laine Brittle and a son of the late A. Samuel and Mrs. Pearl Indie Brittle. He was a member of Wakefield Congregational Christian Church. He was shipping foreman for Columbian Peanut Co. Besides his widow, surviving are a son, Eugene D. Brittle, and two brothers, J. Samuel Brittle and R. Marshall Brittle, all of Wakefield; two sisters, Mrs. Clarice Kotz of Suffolk and Mrs. B. Paige Pulley of Ivor; two half-brothers, Clyde Brittle of Derby, Pa., and Joseph Brittle of Hampton; three half-sisters, Mrs. R.B. Murphy of Wakefield, Mrs. George Rogers of Suffolk and Mrs. Mae Hughes of Richmond.
