BRANCH - ANN COKER BRANCH BY MR. AND MRS. B.E. COWLING, SR. David Vance Branch (1875 - 1947) loved to roam in the woods and was an avid hunter. He had a rare understanding of the animals and their ways, and a keen awareness of nature and the forest. He was known as a great hunter and a true sportsman. His funeral was held in his home with Reverend S.L. Drumville, pastor of the Wakefield Methodist Church, and the Reverend J.E. White, pastor of Wakefield Baptist Church. A Masonic [rite] was conducted at the grave in the Wakefield Cemetery where he is buried. Ann Coker Branch (1877 - 1961) and David Vance Branch had five children - Edna (married B.E. Cowling, Sr.), Ethel (married Layton Worrell), Bun [sic; Bernice] (married Webster Rogers), Annie C. (married John Little) and David, Jr. Ann was a member of the Wakefield Methodist Church, and her funeral was conducted by Reverend L.P. Bland of the Wakefield Methodist Church and Rev. D.M. Cotter of the Wakefield Baptist Church. Branch Buried March 20th At Wakefield Funeral services for David Vance Branch, 71, were held on Thursday at 11 AM at the home with interment following in the Wakefield Cemetery. The Rev. S.L. Dumville, pastor of Wakefield Methodist Church, officiated, assisted by Rev. J.E. White, pastor of Wakefield Baptist Church. Branch was a son of the late George and Elizabeth Faison Branch. He was a member of the Wakefield Masonic Lodge and the Wakefield Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Annie Coker Branch; four daughters, Mrs. B.E. Cowling, Mrs. V.L. Worrell Sr., Mrs. W.V. Rogers and Mrs. J.W. Little Jr.; a son, D.V. Branch Jr., all of Wakefield; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
