A native of Southampton County, Mr. Brantley had been the owner and operator of Auto Service Garage in Wakefield since 1947. Mr. Brantley had served on the town council since 1979. He was a member of Wakefield United Methodist Church and of the Wakefield Volunteer Fire Department, and he was a graduate of the Nashville Auto Diesel College. Mr . Brantley also was a founder of Tidewater Academy in Wakefield. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Lois Franck Brantley of Wakefield; a son, Dr. Stanley A. Brantley Jr. of Wakefield; two stepsons, Charles Franck III of Sutherland, and Ray Franck of Chesterfield County; three sisters, Mrs. A.F. Wills Jr. of Virginia Beach, Mrs. Dorothy Bryant and Mrs. Mildred Lane, all of Ivor; and two brothers, L.A. Brantley Sr. and T. Holt Brantley, both of Ivor. A funeral service will held at 11 a.m. tomorrow in Purviance Funeral Chapel in Wakefield, with burial in Wakefield Cemetery. ****************************************************************************** STANLEY AURELIUS BRANTLEY WAKEFIELD COUNCILMAN DIES WAKEFIELD - Stanley Aurelius Brantley Sr., 70, a member of Wakefield Town Council since 1979, died Christmas Eve [sic] in Southampton Memorial Hospital, Franklin. A native of Southampton County, he had been owner and operator of the Auto Service Garage in Wakefield since 1947. He was a member of Wakefield United Methodist Church and a charter member of the Wakefield Volunteer Fire Department. He was a graduate of the Nashville Auto Diesel College and was a founder of Tidewater Academy. He was the husband of the late Frances Pittman Brantley and is survived by his present wife, Lois Franck Brantley of Wakefield. Others survivors include a son, Dr. Stanley A. Brantley Jr. of Wakefield; two stepsons, Charles Franck, III of Sutherland, and Ray Franck of Chesterfield County, three sisters, Mrs. A.F. Wills Jr. of Virginia Beach, Mrs. Dorothy Bryant and Mrs. Mildred Lane, all of Ivor; two brothers, L.A. Brantley Sr. and T. Holt Brantley, both of Ivor; and five grandchildren. A funeral service was held Saturday in Purviance Funeral Chapel, Wakefield, by the Revs., J.M. Tongue, L.T. Bland and Lewis Harris. Burial was in Wakefield Cemetery.
