COBB, SR. WAKEFIELD - Reuben M. Cobb Sr., 88, who served on Wakefield Town Council for 40 years, died Wednesday in Louise Obici Memorial Hospital, Suffolk. Cobb was born in Sussex County and lived on Main Street. He retired as a buyer for Planters Peanut Co. in Wakefield and was a member of Wakefield United Methodist Church. He was a councilman from 1936 to 1976 and also was president from 1962 to 1976. He was a charter member of the Wakefield Ruritan Club and a member of Wakefield Masonic Lodge No. 198 for 60 years. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Amie Lee Holmes Cobb; a daughter, Mrs. Amie C. Harvell of Richmond; a son, R. Myrick Cobb, Jr. of Wakefield; a sister, Mrs. Margaret Jane Burns of Richmond; a brother Benjamin Cobb of Birmingham, Ala.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A funeral will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Friday in Purviance Funeral Chapel, Wakefield, by the Rev. E. Lee Chattin. Burial will be in Wakefield Cemetery. The family will be at the residence. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Ivor Rescue Squad. ****************************************************************************** REUBEN MYRICK COBB, SR. Reuben M. Cobb, Sr., age 88, of Wakefield, died Wednesday, April 30, 1986 in a Suffolk Hospital. He was a native of Sussex Co., and husband of Mrs. Amie Lee Holmes Cobb. He was former owner and operator of Cobb Drug Co. in Wakefield, and was a retired buyer for the Planters Peanut Co. He served on the Wakefield Town Council from 1936 to 1976 and as its President from 1962 to 1976; he was a member of Wakefield United Methodist Church, Charter member of the Wakefield Ruritan Club, and a member of Wakefield Masonic Lodge #198 for the past 60 years. His parents were the late Walter Henry and Lucy James Cobb. Other survivors include a daughter, Amie C. Harvell of Richmond; a son, R. Myrick Cobb Jr. of Wakefield; sister, Margaret Jane Burns of Richmond; brother, Benjamin Cobb of Birmingham, Ala.; six grandchildren, two great- grandchildren; four step grandchildren. He was father of the late James T. Cobb. Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m. Friday May 2, 1986, in Purviance Funeral Chapel, Wakefield, by Rev. E. Lee Chattin. Burial Wakefield Cemetery. The family will be at the residence, Main St. in Wakefield. Memorial donations may be made to the Ivor Rescue Squad.
