Mrs. Cheatham was the widow of Conway Nicholas Cheatham and a native of Surry County. She was a member of Waverly United Methodist Church and a former member of Waverly Woman’s Club. She is survived by one daughter, Joyce A. Beale of Waverly, one brother, William M. Atkinson of Petersburg, three grandchildren, A. Wayne Beale, Suffolk, David A. Beale, Sussex, and Janet B. James, Richmond, and six great- grandchildren. A service was held at Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield, on Thursday, Nov. 12 at 2:30 p.m. by the Revs. Randy McMillen and Jess Staton. Burial followed in Waverly. The family suggests memorial donations to the Waverly Rescue Squad, Waverly, Va. 23890. Edith (ATKINSON; Mrs. Conway N.)
