A native of Sussex County, she was a former school teacher and a member of Rocky Hock United Methodist Church, Surry County. Survivors include her husband, Bernice E. Cowling Sr.; four daughters, Mrs. Nell C. Rogers and Mrs. Vernon V. Lowe, both of Wakefield, Mrs. Edna Schwicktenburg of Tucson, Ariz., and Mrs. Dorothy C. Moody of Uncasville, Conn.; two sons, Albert C. and B.E. Cowling Jr., both of Waverly; two sisters, Mrs. Annie C. Little and Mrs. Bernice B. Rogers, both of Wakefield; 18 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. A funeral will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield, by the Rev. James M. Tongue and the Rev. L.P. Bland. Burial will be in Wakefield by the Rev. James M. Tongue and the Rev. L.P. Bland. The family will receive friends from 7:30 to 9 tonight in the funeral home and requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Waverly Rescue Squad.
