All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ BEVERLEY FROST CARSON (July 22, 1928 - March 13, 2014) Mr. Beverley Frost "Bev" Carson, 85, of Franklin, passed away on March 13, 2014. He was born in Wakefield, VA the son of the late Baylis Rector Carson, Sr. and Venona Sears Carson. He is survived by his wife of 60 years Anne Reese Carson; son, Thomas Frost Carson; daughter, Beverley Carson Casper and her husband Robert; daughter, Mary Carson Jones and her husband Alan; grandchildren Mary Claire, Carson, and Abby Jones; Samuel and Mary Casper; brother, John Carson and his wife "Tour"; and other brothers and sisters-in- law as well as numerous nieces and nephews and extended family. He also was pre-deceased by his beloved mentor and neighbor, Dr. S. Burt Ellis. Bev graduated from Wakefield High School in 1946, and he attended Virginia Tech and the University of Richmond before graduating from the School of Pharmacy at the Medical College of Virginia in 1953. He was a member of Phi Gamma Delta fraternity while at Richmond. Bev served in the US Army from 1954 until 1956 in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. Bev loved horses and won many jousting tournaments during his youth. He was a very talented musician, and played in "The Virginians," a big band dance band that played across southeastern Virginia in the mid-nineteen fifties to sixties. Bev was passionate about pharmacy, and will be remembered as a kindhearted, caring, and generous pharmacist who loved and respected his customers. He owned Jones Drug in Franklin for twenty-three years, and worked at numerous pharmacies across eastern Virginia and northeastern North Carolina for a career that spanned fifty years. Bev was a member of the Wakefield Masonic Lodge #198 for 64 years. He was also a member of the Franklin Lions Club, the American Legion, and Franklin Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon. The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 15, 2014 from 4 until 6 p.m. at Wright Funeral Home, 206 West 4th Avenue, Franklin, VA. A Memorial Service with Military Honors to celebrate his life will be held on Sunday, March 16, 2014 at 3 p.m. at Franklin Baptist Church, 208 North High Street, Franklin, VA. Burial will follow the service at the Wakefield Cemetery in Wakefield, VA, and there will be a reception at Wakefield Baptist Church, 104 West Church Street, Wakefield, VA 23888.
