H.E. Crutchfield and the Rev. Edward B. Owen. Burial was in Wakefield Cemetery. Pallbearers were Bob Allison, Warren Beale, Stanley Brantley, S.I. Jenkins, Gilbert Brittle, Truet Garrett, W.C. Seeley Sr., and S.A. Whitmore. Carroll, 66, operator of a general store, died Tuesday morning in Louise Obici Memorial Hospital. A native of Southampton County, he was a member of Burton's Grove Congregational Church. He was the husband of Mrs. Hazel Whitmore Carroll and a son of Emmett Walter and Mrs. Mamie White Carroll. Besides his widow, surviving are a foster son, Lawrence C. Goodrich of Richmond; a daughter, Mrs. Christine C. Warren of Wakefield; two brothers, Clyde N. Carroll of Portsmouth and Edwin W. Carroll of Wakefield; three sisters, Mrs. Dallas W. Harton and Mrs. Beverly B. Cox of Newport News, and Mrs. Herman D. Goodrich of Wakefield; and a granddaughter.
