All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ D'EARCY PAUL DAVIS Funeral services for D'Earcy Paul Davis, 54, who died at his home in Wakefield on Tuesday afternoon, February 26, after a brief illness, were held at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon, with interment in the Wakefield Cemetery. Rev. E.G. Conklin, pastor of the Wakefield Baptist Church, officiated. Active pallbearers were C.A. Anderson, Sr., J.N. Barker, L.B. Faison, J.R. Harris, J.M. Long, R.R. Magee, Dr. E.C. Nettles and J.E. Pittman. A native of Isle of Wight County, Mr. Davis was form time to time engaged in business enterprises in Waverly, Ivor and Zuni. He had resided in Wakefield since 1931, and was the owner and operator of the Midway Service Station in that town. He was also one of the promoters of the Wakefield Sportsmans Club. Mr. Davis is survived by his wife, Mrs. Laura Mae Davis; one son D.P. Davis, Jr., of Harrisonburg; one daughter, Mrs. Catherine D. Briggs of Wakefield; three grandchildren; two brothers, H.O. Davis of Washington, D.C., and G.M. Davis of Warsaw; and four sisters, Mrs. Eva Hall of Zuni, Mrs. Virgie Crumpler of Petersburg, Mrs. Ruth Brooks of Hopewell, and Mrs. Hazel Judkins of Richmond.
