GRACIE STRICKLAND DUKE 

  MATHEWS - Gracie Strickland Duke, 69, a resident of Mathews, Va., died 
Friday, Jan. 12. 2001, at Riverside Convalescent Center in Newport News. 
Born Oct. 28, 1931, in North Carolina, she was a daughter of Luther and 
Daisy Lewis Strickland and wife of the late Jessie Duke.

  Mrs. Duke is survived by her daughters, Brenda Weatherington and her 
husband, Paige, of Zuni, Va., and Linda Gail Tapia and her husband, Edwin, 
of Tennessee; her sisters, Lucille S. Sorrell of Wakefield, Va., Bernice 
Hanaway and Inez Flipps, both of Tabor City, N.C., and Ann Stockton of 
Missouri; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

  A graveside service will held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 15, in Wakefield 
Cemetery.

  Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield, is handling the arrangements.
