A native of Sussex County, he was a retired farmer. He was a member of Wakefield Congregational Christian Church. Survivors include two sisters, Mildred Buckman of Raleigh, N.C., and Elsie F. Babb of Ivor; and two brothers, J. Dillard Faison of Wakefield and Robert L. Faison Jr. of Newport News. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Wakefield by the Rev. Jess V. Staton. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight in Purviance Funeral Home. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Wakefield Volunteer Fire Department or Ivor Rescue Squad. ****************************************************************************** Dempsey Harward Faison WAKEFIELD - Dempsey Harward "Preacher" Faison, 84, died Wednesday, May 10, at Waverly Health Care. He is the son of the late Robert Lee and Mae Ashley Dillard Faison and he is the brother of the late Eula F. Johnson, Sallie F. Neblett and Robert Ashley Faison. Survivors include two sisters, Mildred P. Buckman of Raleigh, N.C. and Elsie F. Babb of Ivor; and two brothers. J. Dillard Faison of Wakefield and Robert L. Faison Jr. of Newport News. A graveside funeral service was held at Wakefield Cemetery on Friday, May 12, at 11 a.m. The Rev. Jess V. Staton officiated. Purviance Funeral Home was in charge.
