FLEETWOOD The saddest funeral ever conducted in the town of Waverly, took place at the Methodist Episcopal church here last Sunday over the remains of Mr. T.E. Fleetwood, of Wakefield, a notice of whose sudden death appeared in your columns. The services were conducted by the Revs. J.T. Moore and C.H. Green, of Wakefield, and the following gentlemen acted as pall-bearers: Active - P.D. Bain, T.F. Nicholson, J.S. White, F.A. Gay, J.E. Richardson and J.R. Bell. Honorary - R.W. Chappell, John W. West, R. T. West, and George E. Burt, of Wakefield. The deceased was a brother of Mr. P. Fleetwood, of this place, and was a member of the firm of Stephenson & Fleetwood, of Wakefield, one of the leading mercantile houses of this county. He was born in Maryland, but has lived in Sussex for the past twenty years, where he enjoyed the confidence and respect of all who knew him. He died on his 41st birthday and on the twentieth anniversary of his arrival in Virginia. He married about six years ago Miss Annie Sharp, of Surry county, and leaves a widow and two children. His remains were interred in the town cemetery in the presence of the largest concourse of people which has ever assembled here on such an occasion. Messrs. William, Gus, and Isaac Fleetwood, of Maryland, who attended the funeral, returned home this week. Mrs. Mary Fleetwood, of Delaware, who has been visiting at the home of her son, Mr. P. Fleetwood, of this place, for several months past, left for her home a few days ago.
