JOSEPH LANGHORNE FRANCIS 

   WAKEFIELD - A funeral service for Joseph Langhorne Francis was conducted 
Sunday at 2:30 p.m. in Purviance Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Edward B. Owen. 
Burial was in Wakefield Cemetery.

   Pallbearers were Dr. E.C. Nettles, Horace Higgins, Carlton C. Holliday, 
Dr. Kasper Kaufman, J.B. Nicholson Jr., John S. Carson, J.N. Savage and R.M. 
Cobb.

   Francis, 62, died Friday night in a Richmond hospital.

   A native of Capron, he was a son of Jefferson L. and Mrs. Cora Rountree 
Francis and the husband of Mrs. Julia Emily Drew Francis.

   He was the principal of J.H. Reid Elementary School, Chesterfield County, 
and a former principal of Wakefield and Bolling Green high schools.

   He was a graduate of the College of William and Mary and Duke University 
and a member of Wakefield Methodist Church.

   Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, Langhorne Drew Francis of 
Richmond; a sister Mrs. Jack Scarborough of Capron; and a brother, Ernest J. 
Francis of Amarillo, Tex.
