DANIEL CHRISTOPHER GAY SR. 

  WAKEFIELD - Daniel Christopher Gay, Sr., 83, died Thursday, May 23, 2002, 
at Louise Obici Memorial Hospital in Suffolk.  Born June 12, 1918, he was 
the son of the late Peyton N. Gay and Lillie Barrett Gay.  He was retired 
from Sussex Oil Co., was a member of Burton’s Grove Congregational Christian 
Church, Green Level Hunt Club, Wakefield Hunt Club, and Wakefield Sportsmans’ 
Club.  Mr. Gay was predeceased by his wife, Bernice Babb Gay.

  He is survived by three sons, Daniel C. Gay, Jr. and his wife, Betty Jo, 
Reginald P. Gay and his wife, Marjjorie, Ronald B. Gay and his wife, Carol, 
all of Wakefield; one daughter, Christine O. Wenberg and his husband, Ronald, 
of Fairfax, Va.; 11 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

  Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 26, at Wakefield 
Cemetery, Wakefield, with the Rev. Dan Wickert officiating.  The family will 
receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday evening at Purviance Funeral Home.

  Memorial donations may be made to the Ivor Vol. Rescue Squad, Ivor, VA 
23866, the Waverly Vol. Rescue Squad, Waverly, VA 23890, or Burton’s Grove 
Congregational Christian Church, Wakefield, VA 23888.
