Gay, 62, of Wakefield died in a Suffolk hospital on Monday, November 1. A member of Burton's Grove Christian Church, he is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lillian Barrett Gay; a son, Daniel C. Gay, of Wakefield; four grandchildren; and one brother John Gay, of Ivor. Funeral services were conducted at the Purviance Funeral Chapel in Wakefield on Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock by Rev. James Maden and Rev. Ritchie Brittle. The choir sang "Nearer My God to Thee" and "Sweet Bye and Bye." Burial was in Wakefield Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Lyster Altizer, Dr. William Leech, J.L. Long, J.M. Long, George S. Munford, J.H. Stephenson, Sr., and Charles Travis. The deceased was a deacon in his church and a charter member of the Wakefield Hunt and Sportsmen's clubs.
