She was a native of Surry County and a member of the Wakefield Baptist Church. She was the widow of Thomas O. Gwaltney and the daughter of Jack Merritt and Sarah Derring Gwaltney. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Rebecca G. Marquart of Norfolk; one sister, Mrs. Ludwig Keppell of Richmond, and one grandson, Thomas O. Gwaltney, III of Alexandria. Funeral services were held at the graveside, Saturday, Nov. 13, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Gordon Conklin officiating. Burial was in the Wakefield Cemetery. Pallbearers were J.N. Barker, Truett Garrett, J.M. Long, J.N. Savedge, J. Richard Andrews, Dr. Wm. M. Leech, S.I. Jenkins and Herman of Piland. Sarah Rebecca (GWALTNEY; Mrs. Thomas O.)
