MORRIS STEPHENSON GRIFFIN 

  Mrs. Morris Stephenson Griffin, 89, wife of the late O. Carlton Griffin Sr., 
died Friday, Sept. 6, 2013, at Brighter Living in Hopewell.  Mrs. Griffin 
retired from the Bank of Waverly after 24 years of service.  She was a member 
of Millfield Baptist Church, the Eastern Star Alpha #2 in Waverly and other 
civic and church organizations during her life.

  Besides her husband of 68 years, she is preceded in death by: her parents, 
John Howard and Amy M. Stephenson; three brothers, John H. Stephenson, Jr., 
Marvin C. Stephenson and Charles M. Stephenson; one sister, Marguerite S. 
Miller, and a grandson, Stacy Adams.

  Mrs. Griffin is survived by: five children, Amy G. Adams and husband, Rick, 
Connie G. Epperson and friend, Walt, Jean G. Whitmore and husband, Don, Lynn 
G. Reust and O. Carlton Griffin Jr. and wife, Susan.  She is also survived by: 
five grandchildren, Donald C. Whitmore Jr., Terri W. Pittman and husband, 
Jeremy, Wallace Eugene Faison, III and wife, mary., Robert E. Faison and wife, 
Veronica and William Faison; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces; and 
nephews.

  The family will receive friends today, Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013, at R.W. Baker 
& Co. Funeral Home Wakefield Chapel from 6 to 8 p.m.  A graveside service will 
be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 9, 2013, at Wakefield Cemetery with the Rev. 
Brooks Gale officiating.

  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Millfield Baptist 
Church, 31389 Millfield Road, Wakefield, Va. 23888 or Waverly Volunteer Rescue 
Squad, P.O. Box 318, Waverly, Va. 23890.
