MICHAEL "PIP" DAVID GRIFFIN 

  Michael "Pip" David Griffin, 23, passed away Wednesday, June 30, 2004.  Born 
November 3, 1980, he was the son of David W. "Red" Griffin and Rebecca "Becky" 
Parker Griffin.  Michael was a graduate of Tidewater Academy; an avid fox 
hunter; worked as a heavy equipment operator for Iluka Resources in Stony 
Creek, Va.; and was a member of Wakefield United Methodist Church.  Always 
carrying a smile, Michael was a loving son, grandson, brother, uncle, and 
friend.  He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.  Along with 
his parents, Michael is survived by his sister, Jennifer Griffin Pike and the 
her husband, Jimmy, of Carsley; two nieces, Shelby C. Pike and Maggie R. Pike; 
maternal grandmother, Ernestine P. Parker of Sussex Co.; paternal grandmother, 
Linda H. Griffin of Wakefield; and special friend, Lisa A. Bean of Wakefield. 
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 2, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at Wakefield 
United Methodist Church, Wakefield, with the Rev. G.C. Branton, III 
officiating.  Committal services will follow in the Wakefield Cemetery.  In 
lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Wakefield Volunteer 
Fire Dept., 155 Fleetwood Ave., Wakefield, Va. 23888; or Wakefield United 
Methodist Church, P.O. Box 87, Wakefield, VA 23888.  Purviance Funeral Home, 
Wakefield assisted the family with arrangements.
