He was a native of South Hill and a member of Faith Baptist Church in Waverly. He was a retired employee of the Virginia Department of Highways. Survivors include two daughters, Esther H. Griffin of Richmond and Patricia H. Beamon of Waverly; three sons, Daniel Grant Hubbard of Waverly, James W. Hubbard of Macon, Georgia, and Detrick L. Hubbard Jr. of Dinwiddie; two brothers, Campbell Skinny Hubbard of Lawrenceville and Posey Hubbard of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; also 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Services were held Friday, Jan. 2, at Faith Baptist Church with the Rev. R.B. Nunnally Jr. officiating. Burial was in Hillcrest Memorial Park in Wakefield. The family suggests memorial donations be made to the Faith Baptist Church in Waverly. Purviance Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
